Chapter Eight

Lykos

It took me two and a half weeks to take care of the Trolls in Oregon. I had to make a trip to the Fae realm and everything. It was not fun. When I finished the job, I immediately told Valik I was going on vacation because I needed a bit of a break. After I hung up the phone, I decided to go out for a night of clubbing and while there, maybe find someone to take back to my hotel room for the night. Imagine my surprise when I noticed a buff, tanned, brown haired, hottie in leather tearing up the dancefloor. He danced like a twink but he was built like an Alpha. The idea of that combination alone made my mouth water.

I chugged the rest of my Jack and Coke and made my way over to him. Once, I got close enough to scent him, it hit me like a ton of bricks. So fucking sweet like vanilla and raspberries. The smell alone got me instantly hard. The close dancing made it painful. Which brings us up to what happened on my end after the sexcapades. I was in the hotel bathroom grinning like a loon to myself in the mirror sporting a fresh claiming bite. It was only part of the process but it was a start. I knew he’d had a few drinks judging by the way he tasted like tequila and something fruity so, I made sure to play it safe this time around. We could finish our bond anytime. I’d have hated myself if he felt like the decision had been forced on him the next morning.

I wet a washcloth in the sink and walked out into the bedroom. He was already fast asleep so I gently wiped him down as best as I could without waking him. I threw the rag towards the bathroom and turned off the lights. I climbed back into bed next to him and pulled him over so that he was lying on my chest. I smiled as I fell asleep.

That brings us to the present which is now, the morning after. I wake up in bed alone, but after hearing the shower turn off I’m excited that my mate is still here. Hoping to have breakfast with him and get to know him a little better I get up and get dressed. Concerned that he’s taking a while in the bathroom, I walk over to knock on the door and suddenly wish I hadn’t. “You know I never wanted a mate Crispin!! Then my dad says I have to take one and she’s not that bad. I could see myself with her you know? The mating ceremony is in three weeks! Three weeks!! And I just fucked it up! This will start a pack war! What am I supposed to do now?!”

I sigh, finally realizing what it’s like to have the hope you’ve held onto for so long snuffed out in an instant. So, I’ll be alone forever, big deal.
